Shoulder pain can develop for many reasons. Strain on the shoulder joint and surrounding musculature can be caused by repetitive motions and overuse either due to occupational requirements or sport related movements. Imbalances of strength and mobility around the shoulder joint related to poor posture is one of the most common causes of shoulder dysfunction and pain. Rounded shoulder and forward head posture causes tightening of the muscles in the front of the shoulder joint and weakening of the muscles in the back of the joint which leads to improper mechanics of the shoulder joint.
